Thank you for visiting our brand new website where you’ll find all you need to know about our forthcoming auctions, valuation days, media events and more.
Much has changed in the auction world since we first opened in The Milner way back in 2005. In those days there was no live internet bidding and buyers used to crowd into the saleroom to bid on the last Saturday every month – yes, that’s right – just one sale every month with no internet, no packing, no shipping, but there was a certain family atmosphere where buyers, bidders and staff were able to socialise as well as get on with the general business of the day.
And then the internet took over which transformed the auction world. We still got vendors and buyers from Liverpool, Manchester and Chester, but now these were competing against clients from North and South America, Australia, Asia and all parts of Europe.
Then came Covid, and The Auction Centre was one of the first auction houses in the UK to adapt its business by closing the saleroom to visitors, thus creating more storage space, and broadcasting all of its auctions online. The results were staggering – people largely were forced to stay at home and live internet auctions provided a welcome distraction.
Now in our 20th year, we continue to expand and prosper. We regularly conduct three or more auctions every week, and our sister company, British Toy Auctions is now recognised as one of the top specialist auction houses in the country. All of this has been achieved by much hard work on the part of the directors, the staff, the support staff and suppliers and, of course you – the customer. We are enormously appreciative of your support for making all this possible.
